Youth Suicide Prevention

LEARN Saves Lives

Suicide Prevention for High School Students and Parents

Representatives from MIYFS, MI Parent Edge, and MISD have partnered to create the MI Forefront Team.  We utilize the curriculum of the UW Forefront program, "LEARN Saves Lives," to offer youth suicide prevention programs and resources to our community.

The vision of UW Forefront is to foster a world that openly addresses suicide and mental health with compassion, and where every individual acts on their capacity to prevent suicide.

Evidence-based prevention strategies can help youth in crisis stay safe and get support. This valuable knowledge supports healthy families and communities. Visit www.intheforefront.org for more information or contact your MIYFS School Counselor.

Signs of Suicide

Suicide Prevention for Middle School Students and Parents

The “Signs of Suicide” program is utilized at Islander Middle School. IMS students have learned to ACT (Acknowledge, Care, Tell) through this program so they are prepared to get help for themselves or a friend. Learn the ACT message so that you can support your child.
